We the People
Starts With
Conversation
This 4th of July
Perhaps the most patriotic thing We the People can do is come together for conversation and community on our nation’s 250th anniversary. Itβs an invitation to connect and contribute. Building a more perfect union, one step at a time.
Sign up below to join Talk A Mile on the 4th of July as we work to bring 250 people together in Portland, Oregon and invite communities for one-mile walks and 1:1 conversations across 50 states, to walk, talk, listen, and learn from people different from you.
Because We the People is something we build by showing up and finding common ground, together.

What can I actually do to make a difference?
It can feel like a big question. But it starts in small momentsβwhen we take the time to listen and understand one another. Talk A Mile is a simple place to begin.
Conversation leads to connection.
Connection strengthens communities.
Talk A Mile fosters civic engagement through 1:1 conversations that build bridges. Participants walk four laps together while sharing each otherβs story, building relationships and trust. Conversation prompts are provided each lap. 98% of participants feel seen and heard with an increased desire to be more involved in their community. But even more powerful are the stories that come out of Talk A Mile conversations:
What to expect:
Start your July 4th by taking a moment to be present and be part of something bigger. These are the first stepsβliterally and figurativelyβtoward a stronger community.
